What is the project about?
These guides are part of a series of walking routes designed for different neighbourhoods and green spaces in Kingston upon Thames, London.
Why is this important?
During the Covid-19 pandemic, people have been out and about with their families or by themselves, exploring their immediate surroundings and neighbourhoods. We wanted to encourage people by designing and popularising new walking routes to help people get out and get going. The project is part of a larger walking route series for Kingston.
How did I do it?
In collaboration with local residents of Kingston, we walked the route and took note of all the important spots to be highlighted, points that would be beneficial for the local community. Through regular feedback sessions, we designed the route. On completion, the map and leaflet was shared with several local councillors, council officers and stakeholders that could add valuable feedback in terms of information about biodiversity and local businesses.
This map is available online on walking apps and websites like: Go Jauntly and GPS routes
It can also be found in local businesses signposted on the map around Kingston upon Thames
Designed for The Community Brain, in collaboration with South Western Railways and the Kingston upon Thames Council.
